Living Desert

Ku kandziyisiwile: 02.02.2019

Today we went on a discovery tour in the sand dunes! What kind of plants and animals live in the desert sand? We started at 8 o'clock in the morning, it was still very cold.

In addition to many informative and interesting facts, we got to see amazing animals and plants.

Maxima and Lio found the sand more exciting than listening, and played wildly in the sand. Finally, they were able to really let loose in the sand!

For the first time, we saw a blindworm!

The most exciting part was how we discovered the home of a cute desert gecko, and carefully dug a tunnel under the sand to find it. And then we saw it! We briefly placed it on the sand for a photo, and then it could bury itself again. It had such beautiful colors!

We also saw a large gecko! And it was funny to watch it lick up the (brought along) worms with its long tongue! And how it moved and looked around, and how its colors changed from time to time!

We also really enjoyed the ride up and down the dunes in the off-road vehicle! And we climbed up a larger dune and enjoyed the view over the sandy landscape from the top. Lio and Maxima ran up and down again and again!

At noon, we had a delicious meal at the "Cordes&Co Restaurant" 😊, and after a short walk, we had coffee and cake at the Cage Anton. Some things here are more German than German in Swakopmund.

My uncle and aunt were also with us today! We all had a great day together!

At sunset, we collected beautiful stones during a walk on the beach, which can be found here. Tomorrow (Sunday) we have a "free" day without a program.
