Hanoi / Vietnam

Our last stop in Vietnam was Hanoi. From here we actually wanted to go to Sapa in the mountains and to the Ha Long Bay. Unfortunately, this was climate zone 3. Not 40 degrees anymore, not constant rain - but cold! (At least for us it was cold 😀). In the mountains and in the bay, it was only 5 & 10 degrees, which is definitely not fun and we didn't even have clothes for that.. In Hanoi itself it was 15 degrees and even that felt so cold to us, that we walked around with winter jackets and both got sick.

Our accommodation in Hanoi was on the 12th floor and the whole room was equipped with glass from floor to ceiling. The view over Hanoi was unique and below us was the stadium, so we could have watched every game for free 😀 However, it was also a bit scary to lie in bed and only have glass around hahaha..

On the same day of arrival, we went to the center to see the famous train tracks. Here, a very old train runs through the city twice a day. Only 20 cm to the right and left of the tracks, there are houses or cafes that put their chairs on the tracks and quickly bring them in when the train comes. So, having coffee on train tracks 😂 Definitely something you should see and experience!!

The rest of the time I should have been in bed, because I was affected very badly. But unfortunately, it didn't work out at all.. Suddenly, the Vietnamese people in the stadium started setting up the Saigonbeer Festival and already did continuous 'soundchecks', which made our windows and our bed shake and the music was so loud that we couldn't even talk anymore. We then fled to a café and contacted our host, who didn't know anything about the festival either. Full of understanding, he accommodated us in another apartment. But it was so cold there that they even bought us a heater 😂 oh my... But at least we could recover and had peace and warmth 😀
