Palenque, and then?

Ku kandziyisiwile: 19.01.2022

We visited the famous ruins the day before in two hours, the museum was closed, and the guide described the city itself as 'a sweaty, humdrum place without much appeal'... there were 14 hours left until my night bus departure. So what to do? Breakfast!!!

Together with Danique and Daniel, we welcomed Aksel, whom we already knew from San Cristobal and who arrived by bus in the morning. As a small group, it was worth renting a driver who chauffeured us to the 'Roberto Barrios' waterfalls about 30 km away.

The scenic drive through the countryside and the vast area with large and small waterfalls, pools, and nature provided variety and opportunities for splashing around.

We spent the rest of the afternoon in Palenque, strolled through the city center, had dinner, and then the paths of our San Cristobal group finally separated.

My night bus left at 10 p.m., by now it was routine.
