At this point, we would like to thank everyone who has been following our journey so far. It's great that you're still with us!
Special greetings go to the Klein, Schneider, and Hetzer families 🙂👋
This morning we treated ourselves to a proper sleep-in for the first time. That means Verena finally got to sleep longer and Maxi was actually awake as usual from half past 6.
Our accommodation for the last two nights is something special again. We are staying in a 19th-century house in a pretty posh area of Edinburgh - you can tell by the fact that every other car is a Bentley. Since our Fiat 500 didn't quite fit in visually, we had to reluctantly park it a bit outside.
Today, the plan was to visit Edinburgh.
However, it wasn't that easy because it was raining buckets all day long. But we stayed positive - after all, we had been preparing for this for half a year. Now we could finally unpack our rain jackets and rubber boots and off we went.
Just like in Glasgow, we were again on the Hop-On Hop-Off bus to get to know the city better.
One really has to say that we have been to many beautiful places in the world, but we have never seen anything like Edinburgh.
A city that is so medieval and Victorian influenced. Everywhere you can find small shops with original facades, narrow alleys, or imposing buildings.
Sometimes it almost seems as if the city is divided into different levels because what initially looks like a bridge is actually a second level above the city.
High above the city, Edinburgh Castle towers, which can be seen from almost every point in the city.
Here, for the first time, we neglected wild snapping (also because of the raindrops on the camera lenses) and just enjoyed this beautiful place.
The most beautiful story of the day - Greyfriars Bobby was a dog whose owner unfortunately died. Because the dog is man's best friend, the little guy watched over his master's grave every day for the next 14 years (!!!). For this, a monument was erected for him - touching his little snout is said to bring good luck, we'll see if it helps 😉
To finish off our last evening, we took a different kind of city tour - we booked the 'Ghost Tour', where the guide told us a lot about the spooky and bloody past. The tour didn't start until 9:30 p.m. and took us, among other things, in complete darkness to one of the cemeteries with the most paranormal activities in the world. It actually matched the weather and was completely free - highly recommended!!
We are now enjoying the very last nightcap of the evening in a great old pub with fantastic live music.
Of course, we also tasted enough whisky throughout the day - no one said this vacation would be easy 😁
By this time tomorrow, we will already be back in good old Germany. But before that, we will definitely have one more entry from us.
Good night from Edinburgh
Maxi and Verena
