Day 4 - Beach day. Crossing to Norway

Ku kandziyisiwile: 01.08.2018

On this day, too, it's not going to be Aalborg, why drive back to the city when you have the finest sandy beach all around? Therefore, we decide to drive north towards Hirtshals (where the ferry will depart from) and spend the day at the beach until the crossing. In between, it often looks like the sky will soon unload on us, but apart from a few drops, it is merciful. We leave the beach a bit too early to check in for the ferry in time and then wait forever in a "lane". Meanwhile, we witness an impressive, almost frightening natural spectacle. A thunderstorm is rapidly brewing over the harbor, the dark clouds are hanging extremely low. Strong winds swirl the thunderclouds, which further intensifies the drama, and the wind whips the fine sand from the nearby beach over the land. When it really starts, we can still feel the anger of the sudden thunderstorm in the car. After the weather calms down again, the ferry "MS Bergensfjord" finally arrives and shortly afterwards boarding begins. On board, we are amazed by the dimensions of this ship. It may not be able to compete with the cruise ships seen in Hamburg, but it is still impressive. Key data: 600 cars, approx. 1500 passengers. Powered by liquefied gas, therefore less environmentally harmful than ships powered by heavy oil. Also impressive are the prices in the onboard restaurants. I pay 169 DKK, equivalent to 22 €, for a burger with wedges. A glass of wine would cost around 10 € in the travel budget. Well, soon there will only be camping cuisine anyway. The comfort of the booked cabin is surprisingly good, with a window, a good bed, a bathroom with shower, and a television (useless because the program is crap).

The sonorous rumble of the engines, which can be felt up to the upper deck, quickly lulls us to sleep. The next morning we are already off the coast of Norway!

Hauptsache, Ihr werdet nicht seekrank!

Das Rollen um die Querachse war manchmal etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber sonst keine Anzeichen von Seekrankheit ;)
