45 to Oldenburg

🇬🇧English version below

Tour data: Distance 118.02 kilometers (cum. 3,594 kilometers), Ø 21.8 km/h, driving time 5:24 hours, max 41.4 km/h

Weather: not a cloud seen all day. Up to 19° warm, little wind, mostly from the right and a tailwind

Yesterday evening I sat down with friends again. I was allowed to take a longer break with them on the way to Travemünde. And now they have come from Undeloh to Stade specifically to see me again on my bike tour. Thank you very much, dear Barbara and Dieter.

In the hotel's own restaurant, we got wonderful fish with fried potatoes after an asparagus soup. In the meantime, Dieter has also bought an almost identical bike from Riese and Müller. They can now take their little poodle with them on bike tours. Because he doesn't want to sit in the back, only in the front where he can see something. This is now possible with the front carrier from R+M. 👍

By the time I was finally on the bike, it was 08:23 today, as the start photo shows. Was the breakfast so good that it got so late?

But I made up for the lost time, as the high average speed shows. I chose a fairly direct route to do this.

In Bremervörde, when I was taking a picture, a lady asked me if she could help me. I told her where I wanted to go, to which she said 'It's a long way, even by car.' 🤣

Today I was allowed to ride a ferry again. However, only a few hundred meters across the Weser. But I always find it a nice change and enjoy it.

Today I had a particularly large proportion of cycle paths. Not much was missing for 100%. Only once did I have the situation that a bridge was simply closed, I had to find the detour myself. A difficult situation without a helpful map.

I did my little shopping today in a gas station shop, it's Sunday and all the shops were closed. In my hotel, too, the reception is only open until 12 p.m. on Sundays. It's impossible to check in until then! However, on the way, I received an email that explained to me that I could find the key in a key box. This box is behind the hotel in a red phone booth and the code is 2037. The box was actually there, but repeated attempts always resulted in the error message 'wrong input'. A call to the provided number brought clarity. The code was 2087, not 2037 - a typo that would have been stupid without phone support. The hotel is built like a motel: all rooms are next to each other on the ground floor, making it ideal for taking my eBike into the room once again. 😊
