Cape Cod III

Beach day! In the morning, the sun shines through the curtain, the sky is bright blue, and a warm wind blows into the room: the perfect conditions for a day at the Atlantic. Finding a beautiful beach shouldn't be difficult, as Cape Cod has miles of sandy beaches. So, put on sunscreen, grab your bathing suit, have breakfast, and head to the ocean. The beach is not far, as Hyannis, our vacation spot, has multiple beaches. The first beach is quickly reached, the parking lot is half empty, but there is a big sign at the entrance: Parking $20! Since my previous nickname was 'Miser', this expense was out of the question, of course. So, on to the next beach. The same thing there: half-empty parking lot, $20 for parking. Well, $20 is a lot of money, but at least you don't have to pay to go to the beach. Still, let's go to the next beach. And there: half-empty parking lot, $20 for parking! So, what to do: a whiny boy in the car, who wants to go in the water, a grumpy woman who wants to be in the sun, and a perplexed but good-looking young man behind the wheel, who's sitting on the money. There was only one solution: pay and be happy.

The young parking attendant made a strange remark that you don't get your money back if the wind gets too strong. Well, we thought, probably a standard saying. But when we parked, we realized that the warm morning wind had turned into a stiff breeze, and that's why the parking lot was half empty. On the parking lot, only the hair was slightly messed up, but at the beach, the wind, thanks to the sand, had the effect of a sandblaster. So, the $20 also included a skin peeling! That's the downside of a full SUV, you don't notice much of the external conditions unless it's raining cats and dogs.

In the first row by the water, there was still space. Of course, because the number of other specialists who go to the beach in a storm is small. And in the first row, you didn't get sand blown at you, because the wind came from the sea. After about two hours, we managed to unfold two beach towels in the wind and off we went into the ocean. The water was wonderfully warm, so it wasn't so bad if you got knocked over by the waves. Aaron and I had a great time until the lifeguards came (unfortunately not Pamela Anderson, but Trude Herr) and told everyone to leave the water. The wind was getting stronger and the waves were getting bigger. Since it didn't make sense to sit on the beach and have your skin sandblasted by the wind, we drove back. Back to the hotel and into the pool there. Before that, we went shopping and Aaron and Nicole bought new pets.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing...

Tomorrow, we'll try to spend a few more hours at the beach.
