Breakfast on the second morning was again very nice in the Hamptons. As a farewell gift, we gave you a box of chocolates as a thank you because we were treated so lovingly. I think they were very happy. However, they also pay well for it 😜. As a farewell, we got some tips for Twizel and Queenstown. They also familiarized us with wind/earthquake apps - essential for New Zealanders😅. Speaking of which: Elisa said that it wobbled slightly that one day. I didn't notice much. Afterwards we were able to determine that it was a small earthquake 😅🙈.

The drive from Kaikoura to Christchurch was again somewhat adventurous in terms of the landscape and the winding roads. Wonderful! When we arrived at our hotel, we were there very early, but were able to go to the room (without paying any additional fees). The hotel is integrated into a time-honored building complex with a university. Very chic. When we were on the university campus, there was a piano there. Elisa immediately went and played “Santa Claus is coming tomorrow”. I didn't even know she could play the piano. But she said that it was probably the only piece she could still play 😅🎹. But it was very nice 👍🏻.

We basically spent the rest of the day walking around the city and the surrounding park. We discovered a kind of “food mall”. Elisa was thrilled and of course we ate something there 😀.

The following day there was an extremely important task on the agenda: hairdresser! At breakfast I chatted with the hotel employee and asked her about a hairdresser. She also has a connection to Germany: her ex-boyfriend comes here, who now lives happily in Germany with another woman. Ouch 😅😁. In any case, after the really good and balanced breakfast, we headed to the recommended mall. I immediately discovered a hairdresser there and didn't hesitate for long. The result: ... at least I have short hair again🙈. But the woman was very nice, comes from the Philippines, has been living here for 6 months and also has a connection to us: her cousin married a German and had three children with him in Germany. I would say everything was done right 😜.

During the day we drove to the beach and said goodbye to it, as New Zealand is now more towards the mountains. Then we went to the viewpoint in the mountains. The journey up to that point was quite grueling as it went down very steeply without any guardrails😓😅. Aaaaaaabut from there we had a nice view of the city and the surrounding area 😊.

Kind regards from Twizel. ☀️🏔️
