I wake up quite early, open the tailgate of my camper and now have a wonderful view of the tranquil bay of Akaroa and the mountain slopes behind it from my bed.
In the late morning, the shower rooms are cleaned again and I take the opportunity to shower directly now. In front of my camper is a stone surface and I start with a sample of my travel bag, as I now only need things for Australia for 9 days, where hopefully it will no longer be necessary to have the thick jackets and long-sleeved wool shirts at hand. The suitcase scale shows 18kg, so everything is easy. Towards the end, things like sunscreen etc. will also go in the trash, because I hardly needed it on the whole trip. Accordingly, I am in a shopping mood and stroll through Akaroa's shops shortly after noon, find a nice woolen jacket, a hat, a short-sleeved merino shirt and once again get this delicious red gurnard, but today in a bun and not with fries. It's a bit lighter on the hips...
The first evening of 2019 is mild and I sit in front of my camper, looking at a wonderful sunset and the bay of Akaroa, enjoying my last wine and thinking that I will start somewhere in New Zealand again next year.
