There hasn't been any snow in London for two years. Then, it started snowing all over the UK after Christmas, but unfortunately, the capital city was not affected.
And that's normal for many Londoners. Because the UK is an island and surrounded by water from every side, the weather conditions here are very different. The winter is cold, but usually not cold enough for snow. Instead, it's very windy and rainy.
Then this morning came the surprise: it was snowing!
My roommate Steven couldn't understand my excitement about the snow. He finds snow wet and cold and was hoping it would stop quickly so he could go to work tomorrow. As soon as a little snow falls here, apparently nothing works anymore. Trains and buses don't operate, nor any other public transportation. Everyone is so surprised and unprepared for the snow, which is understandable when it rarely snows here.
The snow didn't stop me, of course, so I went for a winter walk in the nearby Dulwich Park. It was beautiful, and I wouldn't mind if it kept snowing a bit longer. Unfortunately, a lot of it has already melted, but hope dies last, and maybe it will snow again.
