South Beach Miami

After a short night and a 3-hour flight, we arrived in hot, sunny Miami this morning.

The atmosphere here is much more relaxed compared to the hustle and bustle of New York, which is probably due to the heat. After a quick tour, we settled into our apartment, which we also booked through AirBnB.

It is clean, nicely furnished, air-conditioned :), and only 5 - 10 minutes away from the famous beach. The kitchen equipment leaves a little to be desired in terms of variety and condition, but with a little improvisation, it works well.

In the late afternoon, when the sun was no longer shining straight down from above, we armed ourselves with beach mats and sunglasses and made our way to the sea. The coolness was a true relief, even though the turquoise-blue water of the Atlantic is more like a heated pool at a white picture-book beach in terms of temperature. It is really pleasant to swim in it.

When slightly darker clouds covered the sun, we went shopping for groceries and cooked ourselves chicken curry with rice before heading back to the beach to explore the legendary Ocean Drive at night. It is a long party street with loud, brightly lit hotels, bars, and clubs, separated from the white sand of the beach only by a green strip lined with palm trees.
