St. Petersburg

This beautiful city makes up for yesterday. The camping site is more like a parking lot with a shower and toilet container, but absolutely suitable and sufficient. It's at least 4 km to the city center, where the most beautiful buildings of this city are located. The simple little grocery and other stores here in the neighborhood are found in the courtyards of the huge panel buildings, without fancy shop windows. The luxury food supermarket has luxury groceries, everything is very expensive. There are also small cheap supermarkets here, where things are affordable. You can buy all sorts of Western products. Sweets and beer. Some other products also resemble food I know from Edeka (Grünland cheese) and other dairy products.

Of course, with my sense of direction, I got lost and couldn't find my way back to the campground. Without a Russian SIM card and without a taxi app, I had to have a taxi called for me at a cafe. There's always someone who can speak English and help out.

In a cafe in the city center, I had the best Aperol Spritz ever, made with champagne and cost about 3 euros. The little pastries tasted like cheesecake and were really good.

St. Petersburg is a very big city with corresponding car traffic. The sights are reached via 8-lane roads, which can only be crossed at specially designated pedestrian crossings. You should plan exactly where to cross the streets.

Actually, I've had enough of city visits, I'm looking forward to finally seeing landscapes and nothing but landscapes. Since the others want to drive east via Moscow because they want to see a lot of things that interest me less, I'm going north to the east. So we will part ways on Thursday and meet again in a few days. By the way, something else that's nice: Midsummer. For days, I've been in regions where it doesn't really get dark.

Today, I rearranged my suitcase, I need to have the things for warmer days handy.

Tomorrow, it's time for daily driving distance to Lake Baikal. On the way, I wish for inns that offer traditional local dishes. Stews.
