Slainte! Ireland's own or European, but still British influence!

Ku kandziyisiwile: 09.08.2023

Today Christian and I entered new territory, because neither of us have ever been to the Republic of Ireland.

The crossing was great! It was windy, but at 22 degrees we had the highest temperature of our trip so far. The arrival was a bit bumpy because we were the first to be "sorted out" and then asked for our passports. Never mind, wasn't tragic.

The accent here is charming and different, I stand out with my British English but that doesn't bother me. There is so much here that reminds me of the UK BUT we just ended up back in the EU. It is paid in euros, the speed is in km/h, but it is left-hand traffic. So far Ireland presents itself as a fun mixture that I would like to explore further.

The signs for a "Public Footpath" are currently missing, but that will level out soon.

We are here at a campsite called PowersThePot, the welcome was warm, compared to before it is lonely and very quiet. There are no fans of pizza or Chinese food here, it is quiet and tranquil here. The sanitary facilities are basic but I can find everything I need.

I'm excited for the barn with the peat fire!

We're around Clonmel, Tipperary, we'll probably try cider and other things. At first we were surprised by the temperature, because at 8:20 p.m. it was still 22 degrees. Palm trees grow like in Wales, it looks like Wales to a large extent, but we are now on the Emerald Isle. I am excited!
