After renting a scooter, we looked for a small quiet bay to go snorkeling. For me, it was my first time snorkeling and I'm excited (the snorkeling with the turtles on the Gili Islands can come now :D)
At first, I was a bit skeptical, but I ordered a special mask that worked great. Unfortunately, I still can't dive down, but practice makes perfect. We definitely saw a lot of fish, which I usually only see in zoo aquariums :D
(Surgeonfish, pufferfish, dwarf gobies, panda butterflyfish, rabbitfish, Chinese trumpetfish, smooth flutemouth, pearl-junker, butterflyfish, banded sea snake, clownfish...)
The place Amed is really a very cute and quiet fishing village with few tourists. Here, the fishermen have all their boats and houses right on the beach and go out every morning to fish for their restaurants, families or the market. We met Lenong. He is 24 and lives here with his family right on the beach in a small house. Tomorrow morning at 5:30 am, he will take us on his fishing tour to get dinner. I'm a little excited about going out on the sea in the dark with such a small boat without a vest, but oh well, it will all work out and the sunrise will be worth it :-).
