Orientation Days

Four days (more or less) in a hotel to learn what we are allowed to do and not allowed to do, and how to handle the children. American culture is quite different from German culture.

On the first day, us girls from Hamburg didn't experience much because our connecting flight (from London to NYC) was delayed by three hours. So we didn't arrive at the hotel room until four in the morning and fortunately were able to go straight to bed. However, we didn't get much sleep because the wake-up call came at 7:30 a.m. Class was in session. The class was quite interesting, but it was very difficult to pay attention and stay focused because we were completely exhausted.

On Tuesday evening, we went on the NYC tour. It was really cool to see everything in real life that we know from the movies. Unfortunately, we had very little time at each location because we took a long time to get into NYC due to traffic. And as time went on and we went to each station, we had even less time because girls kept disappearing.

Wednesday was packed with class and first aid, and on Thursday, we continued on to the host family.
