Treasure hunt with shovel and spade

Day 31: It was a wonderfully quiet night on the pitch in Casas Nuevas . It's just a shame that the whole area is lit up with lanterns. Since we are just outside the village, we would have the chance to see a night sky full of stars. Maybe we could have even caught a glimpse of the Milky Way, but the lights here are particularly bright - unfortunately in this case.

The night was exceptionally cold at around 3 degrees. It remained quite cool during the day at 12 degrees, and there was also a strong easterly wind. But that was just right for us. We stayed in bed (even) longer and only struggled to get out of bed when Emmi protested loudly and demanded breakfast and a pee. While I took a long walk with Emmi and Pipo through a dry riverbed, Icke went on a treasure hunt armed with a spade. Yesterday she had discovered pieces of tiles in a mountain of construction rubble that were “ideal in shape and color” for her planned project, which is supposed to start as soon as we get home. I think if she had needed to, she would have “borrowed” an excavator somewhere.

Our return somehow coincided with our lunchtime, and so we made our way to Restaurante Colombino’s . The choice was unexpectedly easy for us. It is the only restaurant in Casas Nuevas . In the simple but clean restaurant, some tables were occupied by locals. There was no menu, just the menu for 12 euros. But that was it: first the traditional mixed salad for two, then a first course - for me a mixed starter plate, for Icke pasta with tuna sauce -, a second course - for me a plate of mixed pork with fried potatoes and fried eggs, for Icke Chicken with fried potatoes and a fried egg -, a dessert - we could choose between fresh pineapple or cake a la tirasmisu, although the choice wasn't difficult ;-) - and to finish off a cortado. The price included a liter of beer – in our case cerveza sin alcohol . The portions were huge, not even people with a particularly good appetite like us could handle them. That was bitter. But we decided to try again tomorrow. So we stay another night. There is no dinner and no breakfast tomorrow. That would be laughable!
