Today we first went to Queenstown from Te Anau. Here I spontaneously booked a jet boat ride with Shotover Jet. And the ride was just as awesome as the first time two years ago! By the way, not suitable for people with back and neck problems: it shook quite a bit at times.
Afterwards, we went to the city center. Once again, there was the problem of finding a parking space. The city is always overcrowded. I felt like having a Fergburger for lunch, those legendary burgers where long queues form in front of the shop every day - today was no exception!
I solved the issue by ordering in advance over the phone ;-)
After 15 minutes, I was able to pick up my order, it only took a minute. The burger was really delicious and enjoyed in the presence of a multitude of begging seagulls by the lake shore.
Then we continued on the Crown Range Road towards Cardrona. A quick stop at the Cardrona Hotel, the oldest hotel in all of New Zealand, and at the Brafence (explanation see Wikipedia).
Afterwards, we continued to today's destination, Wanaka. First, I stopped by the Wanaka Tree. This is a single tree in the middle of the lake. Due to heavy rainfall, Lake Wanaka had a lot of water and there wasn't much of the trunk visible.
Afterwards, I checked into the hotel and had a delicious ice cream by the lakeside.
