If you're in Los Angeles, you can't miss Santa Monica and Venice. That's exactly what we thought, so we jumped into the hustle and bustle of public transportation. Despite being advised against it, our experiences showed that you can indeed get from point A to point B with the Metro, Uber, and other options - just make sure to plan enough time, as the streets of L.A. are always very crowded. Plus, the value for money is outstanding: a ride only costs $1.75! After about 1.5 hours, we made it from Hollywood to Santa Monica. Along the way, we encountered some very funny and quirky people.
Once we arrived in Santa Monica, we were overwhelmed by the beautiful shopping street and the beach promenade. So, after exploring the pier, we took another trip to Santa Monica the next day, rented bikes, and zoomed through the absolutely beautiful palm tree-lined beach promenade to Venice Beach. Upon arrival, we were not as impressed with Venice. A lot of fuss over nothing, as Laura would say. In our opinion, everything there resembles a huge bazaar solely focused on tourism. So we rode back and treated ourselves to a refreshing froyo and the 'best tacos in town', as a local explained.
