Nicaragua - León

So dear ones, here is a post again. I had to catch up on some sleep and daily temperatures around 33/34°C make you pretty tired.

On Saturday, we took the shuttle directly to León from Utila. It was supposed to take about 14 hours. In the end, it took about 20 hours. A long and exhausting day, indeed... We had to wake up at 5 am to pack our things and then head to the ferry. We were really happy that there were Tuktuks on their way at that time because the motivation to walk to the ferry with our backpacks at half past five was not very high :) Luckily, my stomach held up, otherwise it would have been a fun ride :) When we arrived in La Ceiba, they put us in taxis, we didn't quite understand why. We were even more confused when they let us out at the next Burger King. We could have breakfast there because we had to wait for our shuttle anyway. Well, good to know, why did I get up so early again :D As soon as we started driving, our driver went to a workshop to check the tires and get one changed. Okay, better at the beginning than sometime during the ride :) It's not like they could have done that before, but okay, you get used to a lot of things here. After that, we finally started... there was constantly a construction site somewhere, a traffic jam here, an accident there, and so on. It dragged on and we couldn't really sleep. The air conditioning kept failing and the bus was completely full. Funny thing, there were 10 Germans and only 5 English/Americans. The first time so many Germans were together on one group :D

We finally arrived at the 'La Latina' hostel at 3 am and they said, 'Hm, and you have surely reserved?' Are you kidding me, people, I just want to go to bed :D They had to quickly prepare a room for us, but at that moment I was glad that we didn't have to look for another hostel. By the way, the parrots are the pets of the hostel and there are also 2 guinea pigs that occasionally show up :)

On Sunday, we strolled through the city and checked out what there is to do here and what we can do in the coming days. One thing is for sure, there are plenty of Germans here. You really have to be careful what you say :D How silly.

If you are traveling alone, make sure to visit the Bigfoot Hostel. Great place to meet people. We met the people from the shuttle there and had a really nice evening ;D (unfortunately, it got late/early again, so no catching up on sleep)

I will tell you more about our sightseeing tour yesterday, because now we're going to 'board' down a volcano ;D
