Just hang out

Ku kandziyisiwile: 28.09.2017

Today we want to go to the treeless area. There is a region here where lions live on trees. They started doing this because they couldn't tolerate certain insects. Since then, they always do it this way. There are only a few left and the search is difficult, but so far Sam has found everything. After a few hours, he sees a tail hanging from a branch in the distance (I can see the tree!). We need several steps to see that with the binoculars. Then he trots towards the tree on the meadow and shouts, 'keep an eye on the tail!' But the lions don't take the bait. So, without stopping, he drives directly to the tree with the Toyo and slowly circles around it. The roof of the car is open safari-style and we look out from above. We are standing directly under the tree in the death zone. There is only time for a few quick shots. One lion hangs belly down on the branch, tail and hind legs hanging down behind, the rest dangling in front. Another squeezes its behind into a fork in the branch. It looks so cute that you forget we could be their lunch.

On the rest of the way, we stumble upon warthogs crawling out of their burrow and overtake a Boda Boda carrying gasoline in a drum covered only with plastic bags. We pass by huge tea fields where the leaves are hand-picked. We reach the Gorilla Mist Camp in the mountains. Yippiee, a flush toilet. Tomorrow we go gorilla trekking.
