February 4th was our last day in Antalya and also the start of our planned road trip through Turkey. So we quickly picked up the next rental car before meeting Sandra in Perge. She was already on site and was conversing in fluent Turkish with the staff at the ancient site. Our new little friend was becoming more trusting and even let us touch him. However, every attempt to put a leash on him to take him to the vet was futile and would have only stressed him out. We agreed to stay in touch with Sandra and support her projects. She also asked us for a suitable name for him, and for both of us, he had been a Sherlock for days because of his keen gaze.
After the meeting, we went back to our accommodation one last time to load the luggage and dismantle my bike. Once everything was safely stored, we headed back towards Side, where we were just in time to watch the sunset. We noticed that the small town was deserted, many houses looked abandoned, and there were hardly any people around. Before COVID, the place was actually a tourist hotspot, but today it was almost eerie and empty. We didn't reach our accommodation in Alanya until half past nine, so we didn't get to see anything of the city.
