San Telmo Market and La Boca

Yayınlanan: 04.01.2021

Today we visited the San Telmo Market. San Telmo is supposedly the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, and the market is one of the last old markets and one of the most beautiful places in Buenos Aires. The market hall dates back to 1897.

La Boca is a typical poor neighborhood. The neighborhood was established in the mid-19th century when more and more Italian immigrants, many of them from Genoa, ended up here. In the early 20th century, tango arrived in La Boca, making the neighborhood also interesting for others. The colorful facades of the Caminito attract a lot of tourists every day, although it is pretty empty right now due to the pandemic. However, everything behind this area is a no-go zone, as it is a very impoverished area, as you can see from the pictures of the broken cars...you really have to be careful where you park...so the colorful houses have nothing to do with the real neighborhood.

La Bombonera is the name of the football stadium that can accommodate 50,000 fans. Maradona is present everywhere here, and he also bought one of the VIP lounges in the stadium to symbolize his eternal loyalty...
