Week 9&10

Yayınlanan: 25.10.2024

At the beginning of the ninth week, there was immediately bad news. A relative of one of the students had contracted the Marburg virus. In response, the German volunteers were immediately pulled from their work at the school. Consequently, I was practically unemployed this week. But of course sleeping in has its perks. By now, we have guests over almost every evening. We cook together, play cards, or just meet to hang out. Otherwise, it was a rather uneventful week.

In fact, it only remained at that one week where we were pulled out as a precaution. Right at the beginning of the month, things continued, as fortunately, the case numbers have now dropped to 1. Thus, a pretty regular work week was on the schedule. Additionally, I still had about 200 tests to check, had to deal with some financial questions with my organization’s accountant, and I am currently actively planning my studies. So mostly work. At least on Thursday we were still at a very nice karaoke bar.

Otherwise, I also wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude. Both the preparation and the stay here in Kigali itself were not always easy. It means a lot to me that you all have supported me and have always been by my side with kind wishes and encouraging words. By now, I am really very happy here, and I definitely could not have done it alone. For that, I am truly very grateful to all of you.
