In the morning after the bizarre arrival night, it was time to explore the highly recommended and supposedly beautiful Hoi An. So I leisurely strolled through the old town during the day, and what can I say: it is truly idyllic and beautiful here 😊. Flowers and other colorful blooming plants line the streets, and every tree is adorned with silk lanterns. The entire cityscape is characterized by small alleys and streets, with shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars lining up one after the other. Furthermore, a flying vendor passes by at least every two minutes and asks if they can do something good for you:
'Motobike? - Hungry? - Bia? - Massage? - BBQ? - Drink? - Hello! - Buy! - Wanna Buy? - Drive?'
Admittedly, Vietnamese proactivity in selling goods and services takes some getting used to, but ignoring them and saying 'No No' usually clears the situation pretty quickly. However, be prepared for about 20 'No No' every hour 😅😉.
Despite my visit to Asia, my facial hair did not adapt to the typical beard growth behavior here, so today I went to the barber for a trim 😂. I went to a top-notch hair salon 🙈. Unfortunately, they didn't have an electric razor, so the lady had to fuss around in my face with scissors and a comb 😅. Well, what can I say, most areas are now a bit shorter, and I only had a maximum of 30 jumping hair tips in my eyes 🙈😂.
Hoi An becomes truly beautiful when darkness falls. Gradually, all the lanterns start to light up 🤩 and floating lamps are set on the river that divides the place. This infinite number of lights truly adds charm to the place, only slightly dimmed by the incredibly high number of Chinese tourists 😏. As darkness sets in, the night market is also set up. Here, it seems that every city resident sets up a street food stand with their food. Particularly recommended are the various BBQ skewers 🤤, which you can buy for about €0.80. However, around 11:00 pm, the place quickly transforms back into the lonely place I got to know the day before 🏘️. With the light of the lanterns, all the Chinese people disappear, and representatives of all other nations seek ways to pass the night.... 🍺
