This morning we slept in and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast outside the hostel. Afterwards, we rented three bikes and rode along the lake. While riding on a small road, a boy around our age approached us and asked if he could show us his village and house. Curious, we followed him. After showing us his rice field, village, and house, he took us in a canoe and rowed us to one of the many villages built on stilts in the lake. In the village, he showed us a monastery, an elementary school, and then a restaurant. We had lunch together there, which was really delicious. After the tasty meal, we rode back to his village. Markus and I also got to row the canoe, but not with one leg, just with both feet on the ground. After our excursion, we rode back towards our hostel. We stopped at a winery run by a Frenchman and enjoyed a wine tasting with a wonderful view of the lake. In the evening, we strolled through a market in the village, and at seven o'clock, a taxi picked us up at the hostel. Our journey continues to Bagan, the area with the 2000 pagodas. We were able to sleep relatively well on the night bus...
P.s.: 100th blog entry! :)
