Slightly tired, we arrive at our cozy, colorful hostel with a rooftop terrace after a short walk from the bus station. A few small cafes are also in the same style, and overall the city of 600,000 inhabitants seems more provincial than a big city. Even in the immediate vicinity, there are a total of 1.2 million people. We immediately feel comfortable here, there are many green corners, and street artists and musicians are not hard to find. And even as tourists with our appearance, we feel conspicuously inconspicuous :)
We decide to stay here for a few days to let the city have an effect on us. We wander from cafe to plaza, from plaza to cafe, and back again :) But there are also so many great restaurants that it's simply impossible to decide! And the food here is also great, and we can confirm that Salta has the best empanadas! We also find the humitas that we already know and love from Peru, as well as plenty of other delicious treats! There is even a vegan restaurant right around the corner from our hostel! Almost the best thing is the freshly made lemonades that help us stay refreshed in over 30 degrees and sunshine.
On the last day in Salta, we finally become active again (after all, you can't just EAT all the time...) and hike up to Cerro San Bernardo to enjoy the view over the city.
Overall, a very worthwhile stay and a city that should not be missed on a trip to Argentina!
