In the morning, we enjoyed the amenities of our hotel once again - the pool and the fitness center - and then slowly hit the road.
The drive to the Grand Canyon showed us the scenic change from Nevada to Arizona. While in Nevada, everything was dominated by cacti and desert, with temperatures of at least 30 degrees, in Arizona, green and strong trees were the predominant landscape.
After a little over 5 hours of driving, we finally arrived at the foot of the Grand Canyon. However, since it was already dark, we decided to sleep in the car at a nearby campsite.
Sleeping in the car was tough as the temperature dropped to as low as 7 degrees at night.
After our classic morning routine, we headed to the entrance of the Grand Canyon. We quickly overcame the bureaucratic hurdles and spent the rest of the day admiring the mighty Grand Canyon. We explored the famous national park by car and on foot, and also took the shuttle. After taking what felt like a thousand pictures and walking over 20,000 steps, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset in the canyon, but the wind and low temperatures sent us home early.
For the next night, we had booked a hotel about 1 hour away from the national park so that we could fully recharge.
