The last 3 days Steffi and I were on our way from Pai to Luang Prabang. For this we took a minivan to Chiang Khong. There we slept directly on the Mekong in a guesthouse, from where we made our way to Laos on the other side of the Mekong the next day. At this location, the border between Thailand and Laos runs directly through the Mekong.
The next morning we made our way to the Laotian border, where we boarded the slow boat, which would take us to Luang Prabang for the next two days. The slow boat resembles a long-tail boat with bus seats. This made for a very comfortable ride. During the journey, we met some people and had a lot of fun on the boat.
We made a stop in Pak Beng, a small village on the Mekong that consists of one road and many guesthouses.
After a second ride on the slow boat, we arrived in Luang Prabang, where we met Laura again and are now looking forward to the next few days in Laos.
