Day 5: Singapore Finale

Yayınlanan: 30.10.2016

Unfortunately, we still don't have the right daily rhythm and we only have breakfast at 10 o'clock in the morning. The nights are calm, but Samuel and I have trouble falling asleep. Michael and Maxima agree and whistle as soon as they are horizontal.

Now it's time to pack, because we're heading to Australia tonight. Our luggage volume is impressive. We are traveling with 3 large suitcases, a diaper and baby food bag, a carry-on trolley and an all-terrain double stroller (like in New Zealand, we're very glad to have it with us, especially when the kids are tired or sleeping, it's great not having to carry them all the time). Our carry-on luggage consists of a camera backpack, the diaper bag, a bag of toys, and Samuel's Trunki (children's trolley for self-riding or pulling, we highly recommend it, it can also be used as a replacement for a toy car on-site).

Samuel and Michi are still swimming in the pool while Maxima and I arrange accommodation in Cairns. Due to the children's activities and the affordable price, we decide to book a small cottage at the Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort. Luckily, there is also an ensuite cabin available for a week, and we book it right away.

We want to visit the zoo. Unfortunately, this decision turns out to be a complete failure (but it has nothing to do with the zoo, rather with our planning and the weather). First, we underestimate the journey, which takes about 90 minutes by public transport (fortunately, the kids almost sleep through the entire ride), and when we finally get there, it starts raining. Without having seen a single animal, we decide to return to the hotel. Luckily, Samuel is excited about the subway ride and the many construction vehicles we see during the trip.

In Singapore, Samuel has rediscovered his love for sushi. Although he is not a big eater, he devours a Maki box in no time. Maxima can't understand that at all!

We go swimming again and luckily both kids fall asleep at 8 o'clock. The remaining things are packed into the suitcases and at 11 o'clock we take a taxi to the airport. The kids are awake and surprisingly in a good mood.

We pass the time until departure with a visit to the Schachtl-Wirt and Starbucks. The flight goes well. Both children sleep very well.
