The day starts with rain. I don't feel well either. So we need until 11:30 am to finally get going. Today we have a hike in the Valley of five lakes on the agenda. Only 8 km from the campsite - unfortunately there is no parking space left for our MS68 that is big enough. Damn it, then we'll just visit the Athabasca falls, which are actually scheduled for tomorrow - but never mind. It's pretty crowded here too, but we still find a parking space.
Facts: the falls are 28 m high. 135 m3 of water flow through the gorge per second.
After almost an hour we are back - a bit wet, at our camper van.
The weather has recovered and the sun is blazing from the sky.
So first of all, siesta again.
After a coffee, we go back - let's see if we can find a parking space at the Valley of five Lakes now.
A 5.2 km circuit around the 5 lakes of an easy difficulty level (hahaha)
Armed with bells, water and sticks, we trudge along. Up the mountain, down the mountain and somehow no lake in sight.
I always thought lakes are on flat terrain. Not here, no, we first have to climb a Canadian kilometer (feeling more like 2 German kilometers) up and down the mountain and then finally the first lake appears.
After 1 hour and 42 minutes, we have left behind the 5 lakes and the hills in front of them.
It starts to drizzle on the last meters.
Today we'll probably have noodles 😉
