03.12.2019 Santa Cruz Charles Darwin & Snorkeling

In the morning, we visit the Charles Darwin Station, where the turtle breeding program for this island is carried out. There you can also see Lonesome George, who died a few years ago and is the last of his kind, on display in a cooling chamber. After that, we have booked a three-hour boat tour. The highlight of the tour is snorkeling. We first visit a smaller island, where our guide shows us around. Then we go to the snorkeling spot. We go into the water and encounter a huge school of fish that turns the ground below us into a large black carpet, where we can't even see the end. There are also some sharks, sea lions, and a turtle swimming around, which are not bothered by us. We took many videos and some pictures underwater with our rented GoPro. After that, we went to Las Gretas for a swim. It is a small lake between two rock crevices with very clear water. Then we returned to the hostel.
