Arrived in Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia, we visit the Cathedral. This is where the Camino de Santiago ends, as the tomb of Saint James is located here.
James, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus, is identified by two shells on his robe.
When we were in Bares, we found a beautiful shell like that on the beach. In the past, pilgrims would go into the sea at Cape Finisterre and fish a scallop shell from the sea, attaching it to their hat as a sign of their pilgrimage.
We really like the old buildings and the beautiful old town with its narrow streets, and we stroll through the city. Everything is well maintained and planted with colorful flowers.
