After successfully getting my tire fixed at the workshop, I continued on to Papamoa to a new campsite. Upon arrival, I met some really cool people on the first day. From there, I went to the beach to sunbathe and cool off for a bit, then checked out Tauranga briefly. However, I was really exhausted, so once back at the campsite, I took a nap. I ended the evening hanging out with the guys.
The next day, it was time to work again. The Indians were very nice and shared their food and drinks with me, and I took one back home in return. They also gave me a nickname: “Boundi”.
Even on Friday, we worked hard, but as a reward, we enjoyed beer and card games. Before that, I also gave Finn a new haircut.
On the next day, we went together to Kaiate Waterfall. Back at the campsite, we cooked together, and Theo joined us again since he also needed to look for work. We ended up watching movies in Theo's small but cozy car until late at night in a group of three or two.
Today was all about SURFING!!! Together with Theo, who already had some experience, we went to Mount Maunganui surf beach. After a quick introduction from Theo, we hit the water with our boards. It was so much fun, and after just a few waves, I could stand on my board here and there. Back at the campground, we had homemade burgers.
The next morning, I bought my own surfboard through Facebook Marketplace and then got a wetsuit at the surf shop. We just all surfed together, and now it’s once again time to head towards Whakatāne, as I will be starting Kiwi Finning there again tomorrow.
