From 2.9. Bjørnvika - Forvik - Sandnessjøen

Nai-publish: 02.09.2021

Lots of rain, clouds hanging very low

With a bit of nostalgia, we leave the beautiful Björnvika campsite and continue driving north, towards the first ferry and onwards to Forvik.

Here there is a coffee roastery with a cafe, which has even been shown on television. We are greeted very warmly by Hanne Arntzen, who manages this roastery and luckily still has an hour before a large group of tourists arrive, so we can still enjoy delicious chocolate cake with lingonberry cream.

The next day, unfortunately, the roastery is closed, so we also take coffee for Gerd's brother, Reinhard, and sister-in-law Astrid. Today is the day we meet them, as they are coming towards us from the Lofoten Islands.

When the group of tourists arrives, we leave the shop and have time to explore the area. We find a place where rock carvings from the Bronze Age, about 3000 years ago, are on display, including depictions of elk. Gondula can also pick lingonberries here.

We continue to have occasional rain, but still manage to admire the "Seven Sisters" - an impressive rock peak formation - as well as the Alstahaug Church and the architecturally successful Petter Dass Museum, where we make a quick stop.

In the evening, the five of us spend time at a small campsite next to a small airport (with few planes taking off or landing), enjoying food and conversation in Ellen's spacious motorhome, a friend of Astrid and Reinhard.
