Day 10, Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux

Nai-publish: 06.11.2019

Today we were on a wine mission. We went from Saint Emilion to Bordeaux. All around us, we saw vineyards and chateaus. In Saint Emilion, there were wine shops and wine bars everywhere. We hiked up the hill and had a panoramic view of the whole village and the surrounding vineyards. After a heavy rain shower, we headed to Bordeaux. We tried to quickly get an overview of the city before our tourist bus sightseeing tour, but it was impossible. So we stopped at a cafe and looked for a hotel while enjoying a glass of Chardonnay. Staying overnight here is not cheap, but we found the super nice Central Hostel and booked it right away. Then we started the bus tour. We sped through Bordeaux on the upper deck of the red bus for over an hour. It was interesting and relaxing, but also very cold sightseeing. After the tour, we continued with our own walking tour of the city. A city must be explored on foot, after all. And of course, we promptly got lost. Thank goodness for Google Maps, which brought us back to the city center. Bordeaux is really fun and definitely worth a longer city trip. Walking, shopping, eating, visiting buildings and museums, tasting wine - this multicultural metropolis offers everything. There is also a wide variety of culinary options: Halal, kebab, vegan, French, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Peruvian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, British (Gordon Ramsay), and so on. In short, it's a great city that we could only get to know in small parts.
