After a very tearful farewell at home and at the airport, our plane took off on Monday, February 20, 2017, at 11:15 am from Berlin towards Asia. After a stopover in Abu Dhabi, we arrived in Singapore on Tuesday afternoon, completely exhausted.
I will spend the next three weeks in Singapore and Malaysia together with Stephi, Lin, and Jana, and I'm really glad that I don't have to travel alone in the beginning.
After finding our hostel, the 'Tree In Lodge', and storing our estimated 1000 kg of luggage, we immediately threw ourselves into the hustle and bustle of the city to defy the approaching jet lag. Near the hostel is the Chinatown district. There, we filled our stomachs in one of the many food courts (spicy!!!), strolled through the countless stalls, bought the first souvenirs, and visited a Buddhist temple. From Chinatown, we walked to Marina Bay via Clarke Quay, a waterfront promenade on the Singapore River. With a view of the famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel, we strolled along the shore for a while and then headed home due to the lack of sleep from the previous night and an endless rain shower.
At dinner in the hostel, we met two people from Schneeberg and Chemnitz and spent a nice evening with them.
Since I didn't sleep a minute on the flight, I was able to sleep like a log in the first night (in our tiny four-bed room without a window)!
(By the way, the name of the blog doesn't have any deeper meaning, I just couldn't think of anything better than the summer song title from Helge!) ;-)
