The sun is shining, the day is breaking - but we're not impressed, we're going to sleep in today. But eventually we get up, after all we don't want to miss the new breakfast. Martin opts for something light in the morning: fried rice with chicken. Vanessa has French toast. Both are very delicious!
Afterwards, we set off to explore our new neighborhood in daylight. The streets are just as chaotic during the day as they are in the evening, only without all the party people. There are many beautiful corners and old colonial buildings to discover. Our path leads us through various markets where everything from decorations to fabrics to seafood is offered. However, the meat sections of the markets are 'not very appetizing' for Central European minds due to storage and smells.
We end our tour with a lunch at a restaurant serving local rice dishes. There we also find out that in the restaurants in Siem Reap, beer and still water are the cheapest drinks at $0.50 (€0.45). For comparison: Cola costs twice as much at $1.
On the way home, we make some purchases at the market for our trip to the Angkor temples tomorrow. At the hotel, we clarify the transport and the route through the huge area. We finish the evening by getting in the mood with a cool Angkor.
