Day 11

I got up around 9 o'clock and went to a bakery. I got a baguette, 1 croissant, and 2 pain au chocolat. When I came out of the bakery, about 40 road cyclists passed me. "Are we at the Tour de France or what?" Surprised, I went back to the van and ate the still fresh, warm croissant. Heavenly😋 The pain au chocolat, on the other hand, were not good. I brushed my teeth and packed my things and headed to Bordeaux. Today I drove on toll-free roads so that Sebastián and Claire wouldn't have to help me again😁. I parked outside the city and just started cycling without using a navigation system. Well, I ended up in a not-so-cool neighborhood of Bordeaux. Shit. Oh well, I'll be walking through Bordeaux without a bike pretty soon. Quickly, I found a narrow street and checked Google Maps. Once I knew roughly where I had to go, I pedaled like a maniac. It was not nice here at all. Only dilapidated buildings, stinky alleys, or chip stalls that smelled differently than chips. After a few long minutes, I had this civilized view in front of me.

I took a look at the city center and got myself a fresh, cold sparkling water. I forgot to bring my chain oil from home, so I bought another one🙄. After another 1.5 hours of sightseeing and sweating, I reached the van. Today, I really wanted to go to Dune de Pyla. I had been there before as a child. But when I was on the road to my campsite, it was closed due to construction work. Seriously? Because of 400 meters? The construction work cost me a whopping 40 km detour and over 1 hour. When I drove around and saw that it was also closed from the other side, I thought, you must be kidding me. I checked with the campsites in the area, but they were all full. Well, I drove to Biscarosse and found a parking spot there. I took a quick shower and then went to eat.

I had a few beers with my burger and fries and ended up 34€ poorer. After dinner, I was completely exhausted from the day and ended the day with some music in bed.
