Our first destination was Mondonedo, which was only about a 25-minute drive away, a small village with a remarkable cathedral. There is also a designated parking lot for motorhomes in this village, which I think the Spanish people are very clever about: On the one hand, the vehicles do not drive through the narrow streets and the restaurants/shops also benefit from the visitors.

First, we learned about the history of the cake king of the city, the most famous man in the region. In the numerous bakeries, you could buy the cake from Mondonedo as well as the one from Santiago. The walls of the bakery we visited were full of pictures of the cake king with various celebrities. We left the store as owners of a Tarta de Santiago.

In the village itself, everyone was very busy, the signs indicated a medieval festival starting the next day. Adults in costumes were leading children in costumes through the city, they seemed to have some kind of mission, but it remained unclear to us what exactly it was, but it seemed like a lot of fun.

We continued towards the coast, and we found the fishing village of Cedeira recommended for Galicia. We went through the hinterland, and when we turned around the corner just before reaching the village, we were looking at more of a fishing town than a fishing village. The parking lot at the harbor was not that convincing either, so we drove a few kilometers further to a beach.

There we found a terraced lawn area above the beach. A magnificent view that we were able to share with at least 50 other vehicles. It reminded us again that we are traveling in high season... Late in the evening, a Spanish VW camper squeezed in between us and our neighbors; then we gladly remember the time in Scandinavia, where at least three meters of distance are kept.
