Day 11 - San Francisco

Nai-publish: 07.09.2016

Today we wanted to explore the lesser-known attractions of San Francisco. To get a good overview, we first climbed the Twin Peaks. The Twin Peaks are the highest points in the city, reaching about 280 meters above sea level. From here, you have a wonderful view of the entire city and the San Francisco Bay.

To satisfy our hunger after this ascent, we visited the colorful and lively neighborhood called 'The Castro'. The Castro has long been the origin of San Francisco's Gay Pride with its vibrant cultural scene and colorful streets. Bursting with energy, the crowded bars and restaurants, glittering shops, and historic theaters are part of the exuberant lifestyle. Delicious food and a very open and relaxed atmosphere, what more could you ask for? :-)

Who still remembers the TV series 'Full House'? Then you probably know these houses...

A walk through the huge Golden Gate Park concluded our day. The Golden Gate Park is one of the largest urban parks in the world. With its 4.1 square kilometers (five kilometers long and 800 meters wide), it is even larger than Central Park in New York.

Here you will also find some of the city's attractions, such as the M.H. de Young Memorial Museum or the Conservatory of Flowers, a Victorian-style greenhouse. Other attractions in the park include the Japanese Tea Garden and the California Academy of Sciences.
