We were warned: Lima is noisy, hectic, and covered in a thick layer of fog at this time of year. Well, if you ignore the dreary fog, Lima is actually quite nice depending on the neighborhood. But let's start from the beginning. After safely settling Maggi in the courtyard of the Hitchhiker Hostel, we started exploring our neighborhood, Miraflores. Hmm... we have to admit that we didn't get very far. "Falabella," the South American version of Breuninger, was having its final sale. This small change of plans was especially enjoyable for Silke 😊.
But don't worry, the next day we dedicated ourselves to the cultural aspects of Lima. In addition to churches, government buildings, and many squares, we couldn't miss out on the culinary side of Lima.
Currently, grilled beef hearts are the trend, well, it's not our favorite. The marinade is tasty, but the meat is, as expected, quite tough. Our personal culinary highlight was having breakfast in a German coffee house. You can't imagine how amazing a simple butter pretzel or a whole grain bun can taste 😊.
In Lima, we met other overlanders and got some new tips. It's a bit puzzling because everything sounds cool and exciting... Well, everything will work out. Our next destination is Ecuador, and then we'll see what's next.
