Last night I arrived by bus and today was my first real day in Cork.
After a modest but sufficient breakfast at the hostel, I took the bus to Blarney.
There I visited the local castle and then enjoyed a nice long walk through the garden/park. It was incredible. Not only were there dozens of different vegetation, but there were also areas where you really felt like you were in a forest.
After a couple of hours in the garden, I took a little round trip around the adjacent lake. But just as I had covered about half of the distance, it started to rain. Luckily, I had luck in misfortune once again, because right next to me there was a small lookout house where you could overlook the lake. Protected from the rain, I waited there and used the time to read. It was wonderful. A beautiful view, no people, and I could read in peace with the sound of the rain in the background.
After some time, the cold got to me and it started to get uncomfortable. Since it was still raining, I continued to wait in the cold and surprisingly, I even dozed off for a while. I can't say if this is because there is a construction site right next to my window in the hostel that woke me up several times at night, or if I can just sleep anywhere, as I have often done. However, at some point I couldn't take it anymore and gave in. I quickly made my way through the rain to the bus and back to the hostel. After changing my clothes there and hanging them up to dry, some time later I had a delicious BBQ burger in a bar right next door.
