Today was the departure from Terra Nostra Ranch. Christoph had informed us that there is a Stampede in Anahim Lake this weekend. We did not coordinate with the other events like in Williams Lake or Calgary on our travel route. So, we decided to make a detour to Anahim Lake.
There was no entrance fee and it was a smaller Stampede, more like a village festival. We had plenty of space in the stands, there was affordable food, and activities for children. The woman from the children's organization even spoke German and is originally from near Leipzig, but has been in Canada for 24 years.
First was the Barrel Race, where children and then women rode around barrels with the horses. The fastest time was 16,... seconds.
Then we watched the Cow Riding, where you had to ride a bucking bull for 8 seconds without falling off.
It was definitely an experience and interesting to watch. Unfortunately, it was unbearably hot and the sun was intense. Around 3 pm, we left because we still had to drive 4 hours to Williams Lake. Tomorrow we will continue to Whistler.
