At 7:57 am, we continued our journey towards Darwin. We only stopped for bathroom breaks, otherwise we drove until 3 pm. Then came the long-awaited stop at the Materanka Pools. As soon as we left the pleasantly air-conditioned Maxi, we started sweating. We were simply not used to the 37 degrees anymore. After a short walk through a palm forest, we arrived at the pools. They are completely natural and always around 30 degrees warm. A welcome refreshment for us. Afterwards, we drove another 106km to Katherine. There we bought a bottle of wine, because we wanted to celebrate being almost back in Darwin. We chose the same campsite as at the beginning of the road trip. This time we were almost the only guests. During the Dry Season, the campsite was almost fully booked. After dinner and our wine, we prepared for the last night in our tent. We were sweating again the whole time. During the night, it was 28 degrees.
