Stanley Park in Vancouver

Nai-publish: 04.08.2019

It's Saturday and the sun is shining, and like many others, we head to Stanley Park. Bus number 19 is the right line, but we have to wait for the second one because there are a lot of people going there. The whole park has a one-way street for cyclists, and most pedestrians are also walking in the same direction. We walk along the skyline to the Totem Poles. I imagined them to be bigger and more diverse, but they are still amazing artworks and the trip was definitely worth it. Afterward, we have a picnic like many Canadians in the park and watch the seaplanes, container ships, or the cricket game. It's all very interesting, and there are many playgrounds that we have to avoid if we want to see something else. We then stroll to Beaver Lake, which is hidden by natural growth, and walk along Lagon Lake to Second Beach. Here, there is a music stage and a lot to explore due to the evening fireworks by Honda Lights. Our way back is a long walk because all the entrances are closed for traffic due to the fireworks and there is no bus nearby. Instead, we walk against the crowd, greet many friendly police officers, the kids get into a police car, and we meander through the Pride Festival. In the end, we are lucky to catch a bus and get home relatively quickly. It was a long, beautiful summer day.
