Dec 28: Tree Top Walk in the 'Valley of the Giants'

Nai-publish: 05.01.2017

The Tree Top Walk is a must-see on the South Tour. This attraction offers the opportunity to walk through the treetops of Australia's largest trees. These trees are known as 'Karri trees' and 'Red Tingle trees', which belong to the Eucalyptus genus. They can reach heights of over 60 meters and are sometimes over 400 years old. The walkway was quite wobbly, which made walking at this height very amusing. But the view through the treetops was quite nice.

Another special feature of the Red Tingle trees is their almost unchanged form compared to their origin over 60 million years ago. And when walking on the ground path, this jungle feeling actually came through the addition of tall grasses.

Some Red Tingle trees have also been hollowed out by insects or fires, allowing people and even (in a sadly collapsed specimen for 20 years) small cars to fit inside. The latter can only be admired as a full-size photo device for taking pictures.

After 2 nights in the car, we found a backpacker hostel and rested for the rest of the day. Because the next day, Greens Pool and Denmark are on the plan again.
