Everyday routine, illnesses & big city whispers
There hasn't been much to hear or read about the Goldköpfe for a long time, so today there's sugar for the eyes. (because there's plenty of it here in the Caramel Slices)🍯
As the title already reveals, a lot has happened since our last reader meeting, not only are the pictures chronological, the story is too. 💌
It all allegedly began with our new roommate, whom we extensively reported on in the last blog. The nice Canadian arrived with a cold from a festival. Just a few days later, the whole fun started. Mild flu symptoms, cough, runny nose, etc., well what can I say, Corona hits hard. Leo hasn't been as sick as he was at this point in a long time. After seven days of being bedridden, he got lucky because on top of that, he also got a free bronchitis, which was immediately passed on to Anna. 🗑
After a total of 10 days (unpaid, which actually hurt the most..), it started again. - Finally work, yay! - but the money doesn't just come to the stork either.💸
After surviving the days of illness and the Easter weekend, which was predicted to be tough with only half a crew at work, everyday routine slowly returned, which we could only be glad about because let's be honest, we only appreciate our health when we're sick, it shouldn't be like that.🌈🙏🏻
But shortly after recovering, work wasn't going to be made easy for Leo. 30 minutes before quitting time, unfortunately, the handle on the cup with a whole bucket of boiling hot chicken broth🐓 ripped off, and it poured over his delicate foot like a wave, the kind you only know from flood reports, giving it a new color. They call it 3rd-degree burns - pink-.🥩
In any case, we had to get out of our germy shack again, after every Australian advised us not to hitchhike because of the movie Wolf Creek (not recommended), we promptly hitchhiked to our next hiking trip. - Mount Abrupt- 🏔
The supposedly highest 'mountain' in our area was climbed faster than... (you can imagine the end). On the way up, however, we took a little detour, don't know how that happened, but we got lost on a straight path until we found ourselves in the middle of the bush and thought, this can't be right. Well, after 2 hours, we also climbed this mountain, which also means that we climbed all the nearby mountains. But Australia is also home to one of the 7 Summits, which actually makes our hearts beat even faster.🌚
The following week passed quickly, and we already found refuge and booked a ticket to Melbourne (Mil:bin). With the train prices, it's simply unbeatable, and anyone who doesn't take advantage of the offer would be pretty stupid. (9.50$ for a 3 1/2-hour ride)
Melbourne never disappoints.
Change of scenery🎨: booked into a new neighborhood, briefly brought back the summer, enjoyed good food, and slurped really tasty coffee.☕️🥐
Our plans for big cities are always pretty similar, we choose cultural (free) institutions based on the coffee shops along the way there, and then visit them with great joy. What we didn't realize before we arrived was that Tuesday was Anzac Day... 👯♀️👯
One of the biggest holidays in Australia (celebrating all existing veterans and honoring the services they have rendered) along with Christmas. What was striking, however, was that at 9 a.m., all the people who own a military uniform were completely drunk, which had the advantage that the coffee shops were extremely empty. So Australian.
Now for the good part of the story:
The end date of Dunkeld is sealed. Flight tickets for our new adventure are sealed. We're really excited.🇧🇷
See you soon. Stay clean.
