Queenstown - Wanaka

30.1. - 2.2.

To cover the distance from Queenstown to Wanaka in one day, we decided to drive over the pass!

Wouuu.. that was definitely the steepest and longest uphill ride so far (and hopefully it will get even longer^^)

1050 meters altitude!

Nevertheless, we were still very motivated, as we knew that afterwards it's 40km downhill only - all the way to Wanaka..

..unfortunately we celebrated too early! We had such strong headwinds that we even had to pedal downhill -.-

Well, we were all the more proud of ourselves when we arrived in Wanaka.

And what motivated us even more was that sooo many people cheered us on from their cars! :-)

In Wanaka itself, we stayed for 3 days as a massive storm came up (a real hurricane that caused a lot of destruction on the West Coast!)
