When searching for accommodation for the night of the 24th, we unfortunately couldn't avoid a paid accommodation. Parks with free campervan sites 🏕 are rare, quickly fill up, or are simply inaccessible due to the 🔥bushfires. The picturesque town of Batemans Bay was chosen as our lodging.
We started Christmas Day with kangaroos 🦘 on the beach in "South Duras". Time flew by in an instant. And evening fell. In the middle of a residential area near the A1 highway, under a big leafy tree, we found a free campervan site and made ourselves comfortable. Our friends - the flies - were persistent on the exhaust. Lights out was at 8:30 PM. The risk of wildfires is omnipresent. Just in case, we have 2 apps that provide us with updated information on road closures and wildfire areas every minute. However, this leaves us with little leeway. The goal "New Year's Eve in Sydney" is currently surrounded by a big cloud of smoke 🥺 These past days, you've had the taste of campfire in your nose. And the clouds were gray and heavy, so the ash fallout was inevitable.
The good thing about Christmas Eve was that it rained properly for the first time in weeks. 😊
The first and second Christmas holidays were spent at different beaches. These are not worth mentioning. The strong wind gave the impression that people were being sandblasted. 😂
The sandblasting was unplanned, but it wasn't a bad idea for the 27th. 😂 We went on a trip to Jamberoo Action Park. A water slide park that made 5 hours feel like a breeze with its great attractions. Exhausted and hungry 😋, we parked Riddler near a popular campground and enjoyed our beloved sandwiches in the shade.
And after a round of Yahtzee, it was off to bed for a pleasant dream of a water paradise.
