First Impressions

Çap edildi: 06.10.2017

Yesterday, a month ago, I arrived here in Burgos. Now, a month later, I have already settled in well, gotten to know the city and a few people, and been able to gain many beautiful impressions.

I have really nice host parents who are very helpful and do their best to make my stay enjoyable. The two girls also have their nice moments, but can be extremely challenging at times.

What still takes a lot of effort for me is the food here. The efforts to not serve anything unhealthy for the children result in a very one-sided diet. Rice, quinoa, cold tomato sauce, and salad are our main food. But I have started to cook for myself - yes, voluntarily! - to counteract this a bit. And so far, they have always enjoyed Austrian cuisine, even though the amount of butter is a big challenge...

I have also started a language course at the university. At first, we were almost 20, now we are divided and I am in a small group with sympathetic colleagues. Two are from Germany, the rest are from Italy. On my way to the university is a beautiful park, which has already become one of my favorite places here in Burgos. The city itself is - for Spain - a small and cozy city with many green areas and also a lot of cultural offerings. A river flows all the way from the apartment here to the city center and the university. It is really beautiful - and all this with mostly summery temperatures.
